Abstract
We hypothesized that parenting stress among parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) mentally ill or handicapped children. We could not find the differences among major diagnostic groups, but we had a finding that more problem behaviors measured by Child Behavior Checklists(CBCL), more parenting stress.
General social support had no correlation with any problem behaviors and parenting stress. But specific parenting related social support correlated with parenting stress negatively. Our study suggest that in parent education therapists should focus parenting relate support and the severity of problem behaviors instead of specific diagnostic group in order to reduce parenting stress.
